How Bacterial Vaginosis Can Drive Your Sex Partner Crazy

Bacterial vaginosis is an imbalance of the flora in the vagina. Although it’s not an official disease, bacterial vaginosis can cause symptoms such as itching, burning, and a strong, fishy or old sock smell that emanates from the vagina.
The problem is that your discomfort can affect your sex partner and thus, the pleasure of both of you.
“What’s That Smell?”
The biggest issue is the smell. It’s difficult during intimate moments to overcome a strong smell especially if your partner is engaging in oral sex. Many women use perfume to try to cover up the smell, but this doesn’t work because when you become sexually excited, the cervical juices start flowing. This causes more of the smell to come with it. And because it’s impossible to keep adding more and more perfume during intercourse, the smell wins the game.
You may think it’s easy to bypass this by putting perfume in a douche or spraying it directly into the vagina.
Bad idea!
The alcohol and chemicals in the perfume are too strong for the sensitive tissues and could even harm them. Also, the alcohol is very drying to the tissues that depend on moisture for their survival. A stunt like this could leave you in extreme pain in the emergency room! Don’t try it! Get down to business and cure the bacterial vaginosis instead.
How People React to the Smell of Bacterial Vaginosis
The first time your partner realizes that there’s a bad smell in your vagina, he or she may try to overcome it and still pleasure you. Don’t expect hours of ecstasy! Most likely, you’ll be pleasured once and that’s it for several days. Your partner will wait until you recover. And because it’s a sensitive subject, your partner may not want to bring up the topic.
Dating Woes
Once someone smells the characteristic odor of bacterial vaginosis, he or she will be sensitive to it. The next time that the odor is smelled, it’s entirely possible that excuses will be made such as,
“I’m tired, honey,” or “Did you hear that sound in the kitchen? I better go check it out…”
If you have bacterial vaginosis while on a first date and your date is savvy to the smell, the date may be your last.
Unsolicited Help May Not Help At All
Your partner always wants to see you happy and when you’re possessed with worry about something, he or she will want to help. Unsolicited advice will be given which may or may not work. For example, your partner may say, “Just go to the doctor!” The problem is that if you go, the antibiotic prescriptions will most likely only work for a short time. Many people experience high recurrence rates and sometimes the symptoms come back even worse than what they were originally.
What to Do to Keep Your Partner Happy and Yourself Healthy
The best solution is just to restore the vaginal flora. Once you do this, bacterial vaginosis is cleared up. This is going to take some effort on your part. Stop eating all the junk food and processed foods that can easily result in changing the pH of your vagina to one that supports the growth of the anaerobic bacteria that are related to bacterial vaginosis. Start eating more wholesome foods packed with nutrition. Eat yogurt and fermented foods such as kefir milk, buttermilk, miso, and sauerkraut which encourages the correct pH in the body and also promotes the healthy growth of the right bacteria. Use a tampon soaked in yogurt for a few hours or even overnight before a big date.
The key is to stay one step ahead of the bacterial vaginosis. At the mere whiff of the smell, start your corrective measures.
